Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the creation of five medical cities in Ukraine. The head of state is on a working visit to the Donetsk region.

This was reported by the press service of the Presidency.

During the visit, Zelenskiy was presented with a plan for the construction of a regional multidisciplinary hospital in Kramatorsk, which will become a flagship medical project for the construction of five medical cities across the country.

Such a medical institution will be able to provide high-quality, highly specialized medical care to more than 2.5 million residents of the Donetsk, Lugansk and Kharkov regions.

The cost of the first stage of construction is indicated to be 5.9 billion hryvnia, the total estimate is 8 billion hryvnia. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2021, subject to the availability of adequate funds.

“We have a task: to make five medical cities in Ukraine. We will do them,” said the president.

He also focused on the need to find extra-budgetary funding for the construction of the entire city at the same time, and not gradually, in shifts over several years.

Recall that Zelensky said that a strict quarantine can be introduced in Ukraine, the so-called blockade, if 15 thousand new cases of coronavirus are confirmed daily. With so many patients, there may not be enough doctors and hospital beds.

As RBC-Ukraine wrote, the president expects a model of insurance medicine from the Ministry of Health and the profile committee of Verkhovna Rada.
