It is not worth expecting a significant increase in social payments next year, but in a few years “we will reach a normal human level,” says the president.

Ukrainians should not expect European pensions, President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a visit to the Lviv region on Thursday, September 17.

He was asked to comment on the parameters of the social payments established in the budget for next year.

“Social. The task has been set to increase the salaries of scientists and teachers, doctors and, as far as possible, of retirees,” he said.

In particular, he recalled that from 2021 the additional payments to pensioners over 75 will begin.

“Should we expect it to be immediately at the European level? I think it is not necessary to wait for this. But from next budget year it will increase and anyway, in any case, in a few years we will reach the normal human level of the social sphere”, – says Zelensky.

The day before, the government approved March 1 as the date for the annual increase in pensions. It also ordered pensioners over 75 to pay between 400 and 500 UAH if their pension does not reach the average salary for 2020.
