Last season, “Zarya” was considered one of the best teams in the championship. Lugansk residents confidently entered the top three, sometimes even fighting for second place and were able to beat any opponent. But each one has its own sore spot. For example, Achilles had this heel, while Viktor Skrypnik’s team had Alexandria. In five games last season, Zorya lost four times to the townspeople, and once again tied the game. There was a victory under the freight train, but this feat does not count. Any series ends sooner or later. “Why not today?” Lugansk’s mentor probably thought before the start of the match.
Viktor Anatolyevich made only one post-match change with “Braga”, replacing Shevchenko at the gate with Vasil. Otherwise, the team was exactly the same as on Thursday. But Vladimir Sharan had enough staffing problems: Grechishkin and Banada couldn’t play today. Dovgy and Gordienko were called up to replace the two base players. Unfortunately for the “townspeople,” these replacements are not entirely equivalent.
The start of the match turned out to be egalitarian and combative, which we basically talked about in the announcement of this battle. Alexandria looked a bit more interesting, forcing the opponent to break the rules at times. Hence the result: three guests “mustard plaster” for the first ten minutes. But that was intelligence. The first similarity with the offense occurred later: Dovgy, trying to prove his professional competence, decided to attack from outside the penalty area. Not bad, but in Vasil’s hands.
“Zarya” did not reply immediately, keeping its doors intact even after Luchkevich’s dangerous passage. Dubra was able to face Yurchenko’s serve after standard, but threw the round to the lone Ivaniseni. The defensive midfielder, who today acted as a center-back, played in the best “nine” tradition: he stopped and shot at Pankiv. Ideal – 0: 1. A minute later, the “townspeople” goalkeeper got in the way of the masterpiece: Favorov kicked his heel into the penalty area.
After a goal was scored, the Lugansk team only increased their pressure, but were unable to score before the break, and already at the beginning of the second half they were in the minority, showing that nothing on the ground is left without a trace. Kabaev, who got a yellow card in the third minute, committed an unjustified foul against Dubra, earning a second warning. Interestingly, Zorya could have increased her lead literally immediately, but Gladkiy ruined the perfect moment. Implementation has never been his strong suit.
Skripnik reacted to the elimination by firing fast, smooth-footed Allahyar instead of the “pillar”. The mentor understood that the “townspeople” would take the ball under their control, allowing the guests to play counter attacks most of the time. The moments in the second half were created alternately, and if the hosts annoyed “Zorya” more after the set, the opponent responded to Sharan’s team of the game. It should be noted separately the blows of Kochergin and Luchkevich, which, unfortunately for the teams, did not reach the goal. Substitute Bezborodko buried his team’s hope by repeating Bondarenko’s trick, earning two yellow cards in one minute. Already in injury time, trying to save the game, “Alexandria” missed the opponent’s counterattack, which Allahhar finished with a well-aimed shot.
In general, the victory of “Zorya” can be called deserved, because most of the first half of Skripnik’s team played better, and remaining in the minority, did not concede to an opponent. The following “plus three” allow the Lugansk team to catch up with “Vorskla” on the table, while having a game in hand. And this is potentially third place. Viktor Skripnika managed to remove the old curse by defeating Vladimir Sharan for the first time in an official match. The last game of the year is ahead of the Luhansk team: in the cup they will face Desna.
