Ukraine’s third president, Viktor Yushchenko, received a number of preferences after leaving office. Among them, a lifetime salary and a whole group of servants.
This is stated in the OBOZREVATEL material. Viktor Yanukovych presented his decree to his former rival, and later concealed his decree under the heading “for official use”. So, Yushchenko got:
-
a monthly salary equal to the presidential one;
-
paid out apparatus formed by three people;
-
dacha in Koncha-Zaspa No. 29 (Zelensky now lives in it) for 18 months and dacha No. 2a for life;
-
two free cars and four drivers;
-
security, like the current president;
-
a chef, two maids and two waiters.
Note that not a single former president received such a level of content. Probably, Viktor Yanukovych had a special attitude towards Yushchenko. The latter, by the way, during the 2010 presidential race actively criticized and even accused Yanukovych’s rival, Yulia Tymoshenko, because of the “gas plans”.
Former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov made a similar gift to former President Leonid Kuchma. It is true that the document was classified and has not yet been made public. He acted before Yulia Tymoshenko came to power: with his decisive decision, he left Kuchma, who, among other things, is the son-in-law of billionaire Viktor Pinchuk, without state support.
True, after Tymoshenko, Yanukovych became prime minister, restored the decree of assistance to Kuchma, and only in 2014, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk canceled the decision again.
The former spokesman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Lytvyn was also deprived of special privileges. This decision was made by the fifth president Poroshenko. He also received payments, security, and the apparatus from Azarov, Yanukovych, Lazarenko, and others.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, investigative journalists discovered that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took up residence at the state residence in Koncha-Zaspa, known as “Yushchenko’s dacha.”
