“You only need to play to win. No other options”

At the pre-match press conference, Dynamo Kiev head coach Mircea Lucescu shared his expectations of the meeting with Hungarian Ferencváros on matchday six of the Champions League group stage.

– Will it be a match between Dynamo and Ferencvaros, or will it be Lucescu against Rebrov?

– If they manage to bring my boots from the museum, I’ll play Rebrov. They are individually made. I can’t play because I don’t have boots.

– Is the match against Mariupol a good preparation for Ferencvaros or is it really heavy?

– If we played this game in full force, it would be a test game. And so we played with ten men and there was a big load for all the players. These two days we are bringing players back to the game.

– Is everyone ready to play? What is there to change?

– Ferencvaros has a greatly expanded lineup. They have several Hungarians, the rest of the players are from other countries. They have more options to play. We don’t have that opportunity for a change, they know roughly our makeup.

We cannot play on equal terms with big teams yet, also because the penalty was canceled. The same, it is not clear why the goal was not counted. Until we beat the big clubs, we will be considered a Europa League team.

It is very important that we win, that we continue the European Spring, so that we are recognized, that we are respected. We have a young team, we need it to grow.

As for changes, you must change your attitude towards business. In the away game against Ferencváros in the second half, we started to act individually. You must not repeat your mistakes. You should think only of winning and play only to win. No other options. This is a very strong team. About the same level as ours in terms of personnel.

I don’t lose hope of restoring Buyalsky for tomorrow’s game. Zabarny and Sidorchuk return to the general group after disqualification.

– In an interview, Pirlo admitted that he doesn’t mind seeing you as his assistant. Would you invite Rebrov to your coaching staff?

– Girl, how much are you in soccer? How can a coach who has achieved good success as a head coach on different teams turn to someone as an assistant coach? You can do well here and go to a stronger club.

I don’t play against Rebrov, he’s a very good person, we have very good relations with him.
