Chinese President Xi Jinping urged his army to prepare for war during a Marine Corps inspection in the city of Chaozhou. This was reported by the Chinese government news agency Xinhua.
Xi Jinping noted that troops must maintain a state of high alert and be “absolutely reliable.”
According to him, strengthening the army will be one of the tasks of the future five-year plan.
“We must start from the current situation, seriously study and resolve the remaining contradictions,” said the Chinese leader.
Xi Jinping did not elaborate on who his army should prepare for war with.
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army is the largest in the world. The country’s armed forces units include more than 2 million people.
President Donald Trump’s national security adviser Robert O’Brien said in September that China is the most active in the US elections.
