World record number of COVID-19 patients die on last day of 2020 – WHO

On December 31, 2020, a world record was set for the number of deaths per day of patients with coronavirus infection. This is evidenced by data from the World Health Organization (WHO).

In total, 13,941 infected people died on the last day of the year. The previous record was set on December 19, when 13,510 patients died.

The highest number of deaths on December 31 was in America (6312) and Europe (5860).

Since the start of the pandemic, more than 1.8 million people have died from COVID-19.

According to the WHO, more than 81.6 million cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in the world. According to this indicator, the leaders are the United States (19.3 million infections), India (10.2 million) and Brazil (7.6 million).
