World on the brink of disaster - WHO

In one of the poorest countries he received only 25 vaccines

The cost of a disaster is the lives and livelihoods of people in the world’s poorest countries. There is no equal access to COVID vaccines in the world.

The world is on the brink of a moral catastrophe, says the director of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus. He announced it at a meeting of the organization’s Executive Board, he reported on the WHO Twitter page.

“I have to be frank: the world is on the brink of catastrophic moral failure, and the price for this will be paid with the lives and livelihoods of the world’s poorest countries,” the message reads.

Gebreisus noted that in 40 rich countries, citizens have already received more than 39 million doses of the vaccine. Meanwhile, in one of the poorest countries on the planet, only 25 vaccinations against coronavirus were carried out.

Plans to give people from different countries equal access to vaccination are under threat, the WHO chief said.

As previously stated in the WHO, vaccination against the coronavirus began in 46 countries.

We add that the WHO opposed the “vaccination passport”. The experts also drew attention to the “limited availability of vaccines” against coronavirus in the world at this time.
