World chess champion Norwegian Magnus Carlsen defeated American Hikaru Nakamura in the final of the online super tournament Magnus Carlsen Invitational.

Carlsen is the organizer of the tournament, which took place online on his Chess24 website.

Eight chess players participated in the competition, including Russian Jan Nepomnyashchy. According to the results of the round-robin tournament, Nakamura ranked first in the table, Carlsen third. Both reached the semifinals, where the 32-year-old American defeated his compatriot Fabiano Caruana, and the 29-year-old Norwegian defeated Chinese dean Liren.

Nepomniachtchi was fifth in the all-against-all stage and was not among the semifinalists.
