In Ukraine, the law allows you to receive part of the salary after dismissal in the form of unemployment benefits. In addition, those who have lost part of their income can receive assistance during the quarantine period.
About who and how much is paid and how the unemployed are controlled – read in the OBOZREVATEL material.
How to get paid after being fired
“Unemployment benefits to people who quit their last job of their own free will and without good reason are assigned according to parts one and two of this article, and their payment begins on the 91st day of the calendar,” says the social security law.
So the maximum payout:
-
50% of salary – work experience up to 2 years;
-
55% of salary – work experience from 2 to 6 years;
-
60% of salary – work experience of 6 to 10 years;
-
70% of salary – 10 years work experience.
During the first three months, the employee receives a full payment, the following three months – 80%, then 70%. Also, you can receive money within 9 months. It is worth noting that, in fact, this is not an aid from the state, it is insurance that all employees pay. 22% of the monthly salary is distributed to three funds, one of which is the unemployment fund.
For example, if you had an official salary of 13 thousand UAH and you resign by agreement of the parties, with an experience of 4 years, the first for three months you will be able to receive payment for your legal insurance in the amount of 7.1 thousand UAH… Then another three months – 5.7 thousand UAH and the same amount – 5 thousand UAH each. But this provided that throughout this period you cannot find work.
How the unemployed are controlled
In Ukraine, during the quarantine period, you can receive partial unemployment assistance. “Assistance is provided for each hour for which the employee’s work time stipulated by law is shortened at the rate of two-thirds of the rate (salary),” says the law.
At the same time, officials can come with checks and monitor where received funds are spent. Therefore, the employment center controls the specific use of funds transferred to the employer to pay benefits to employees.
During the verification, they can verify the documents confirming the payment of wages, a reduction in the number of working hours.
How many unemployed in Ukraine
There are about 1.7 million unemployed in Ukraine, according to official statistics. The actual number can be even higher. The employment rate of the population aged 15 and over was 49.0%, and among the population aged 15 to 70: 55.2%.
Since the beginning of the quarantine, 525 thousand people have received unemployment status in Ukraine, which is 53% more than in the same period last year. All are eligible for a monthly payment. At the same time, the process of receiving benefits was simplified, it is not necessary to collect documents for a long time and wait for an appointment.
Former Minister of Social Policy Andriy Reva is sure that, in fact, there are not 1.7 million unemployed in Ukraine, but about twice as many. “If we have 1.5-1.7 million unemployed, according to the methodology of the International Labor Organization, this means 9% of the unemployed. If today there are around 3 million, then this figure can be multiplied by two. It is 15-16%, that is, up to 18% of the working population is unemployed. It is a colossal figure, “says the expert.
