Football.ua talks about the new acquisitions of Dynamo Kiev and predicts their destiny in the capital team.
Oct.8, 2020, 3 p.m.
Dynamo Kiev is quite expected intensified in the last days of the transfer window. True, it cannot be said that fans received some kind of information bomb in the form of a pronounced transfer – Dynamo got stronger without spending too much.
Three new players have joined Mircea Lucescu’s team: Brazilian Clayton, Romanian Tudor Baluta and Ukrainian Vladimir Kostevich.
Vladimir Kostevich
Years: 27 years old (turns 28 in October)
Amplua: Left back
Transfermarkt cost: € 850,000
Projected role in the team: rotation
The fact that Vladimir Kostevich became a Dynamo Kiev player was known much earlier. In the coming winter, the Ukrainian left-back was ending his contract with Polish Lech, and the Dynamo rushed to sign a preliminary contract with the footballer. The management of the Polish club, logically, stopped having this player. It is also quite logical that the Kiev Dynamo management still agreed with Lech on the transfer of Kostevich to this transfer window. The Dynamo needed depth at the left-back position before the Champions League, and the Polish club needed at least some compensation.
Kostevich took his first steps in adult football in the Lviv Carpathians, and it was from this club that he left for the Polish championship. Player of good level. A big advantage is that such a soccer player was almost free (it is not known how much Lech agreed to say goodbye to him faster). And the moment when Kostevich is Ukrainian and will not need time to adjust is also a great advantage, because the start in the Champions League is very early.
As for Kostevich’s role on the team, there are serious doubts that Vladimir can unseat Vitaly Mykolenko. But in championship games with weaker opponents, when Mikolenko needs to rest, Vladimir can replace him. Also, let’s not forget that the Dynamo are experiencing big problems in the central defender position, where Lucescu prefers to use Mykolenko, and therefore we can see Kostevich and Mykolenko on the field at the same time. So Kostevich will definitely get his playing time. So there are questions, where, then, to apply Karavaev? But this is more of a headache for the coaching staff and for Karavaev himself.
Clayton
Years: 24 years old (turns 25 in October)
Amplua: midfielder
Transfermarkt cost: € 650,000
Projected role in the team: values
Brazilian clayton is the biggest mystery. Any conclusion about a soccer player can only be drawn after we can see him in action. Before signing him, the Dynamo looked at the player, and so let’s hope they still see something good in him, and the player will be able to pleasantly surprise. In official matches, Clayton appeared a year ago, in November 2019 at Vasco’s matches. In those games, he performed on the flanks of the midfield, his positions are indicated on the transfermarkt: far right and left. At the same time, the official Dynamo Kiev website indicates that this player is an attacking midfielder / forward. So far, only Mircea Lucescu knows where they will actually use Clayton.

It is feared that the Brazilian is unnecessary for the Dynamo and will not be able to break into the main team. But there is also hope that he can repeat the path of Carlos De Pena. Few believed that the Uruguayan, who arrived as a free agent, could play for the Dynamo, but he did. He is now the first player to even win the Benjamin Verbic competition at the start of the season. Therefore, we will draw conclusions about Clayton after his first games with the Dynamo.
Tudor Bélucé
Years: 21 years
Amplua: defensive midfielder, central
Transfermarkt cost: € 3,600,000
Projected role in the team: regular player
The young Romanian footballer moved to Brighton, England in 2019 for € 2,900,000, but has so far not had the chance to find a place at this club. Rented in his native Vitorul. Last season he played on loan in the Netherlands at Den Haag. And again renting, now Dynamo Kiev.
His home position is considered a defensive midfielder, but without much loss of quality, he can act in the center of defense. Will Beluta be able to overthrow Sidorchuk? It is difficult to answer this question. Given the Dynamo’s problems in the center of defense, the Romanian rookie will prefer to act there, and Sidorchuk will replace in games where the captain needs to rest.
In any case, Beluta seems like a reinforcement more than others. Only the fact that Mircea Lucescu himself attended a personal meeting with the player in Romania. This indicates the personal interest of the head coach.
Let’s not forget that Dynamo Kiev signed Denis Garmash for the season. Lucescu has already shown with all his appearance that he does not have this player, but the season is long, and Garmash is a qualified and experienced player, and therefore can become a “shadow” reinforcement.
In the last transfer window there were many different rumors and many names were associated with the transition to Dynamo Kiev, but at the moment we have 3 transitions. Is this enough for a successful performance in the Champions League? Is this booster satisfied with Mircea Lucescu? We will ask the head coach this question next time.
