Why Dynamo didn’t beat Ferencvaros

In the first part in Budapest everything was fine. As much as it can be good for the current Dynamo. But in the second half, at first slowly, then quickly, everything began to move in the opposite direction. And the victory, in fact, match for Lucescu’s team became almost a loss. Especially after the removal of Sidorchuk. Why did such a metamorphosis occur? Let’s solve it calmly and without emotion.

1. Initial training. The main personnel failures of the vice-champions of Ukraine were known in advance: Mykolenko and Bushchan, who passed positive tests for coronavirus, did not leave for the exit. In principle, the solution to this problem for Lucescu did not become a special enigma: at the gate the more experienced Boyko took his once familiar place, Karavaev played on the left flank of the defense, for whom this position is not terra incognita either. These two played at a normal level.

2. The class of the opponent. “Ferencvaros” was not as terrible as it was painted. Yes, this team has gone through good rivals in the Champions League standings (eg Celtic and Dynamo Zagreb), it is trained by one of the best Ukrainian coaches in the mode right now, but Fradi is not stronger, at least , from Kiev. … I allow myself to state this not only on the basis of a comparison of the transfer price of the most expensive players of these two teams (Tsygankov and Zubkov), but also the individual indicators of absolutely all the players of the Hungarian champion. Yes, deep down, a solid team, but mediocre.

3. Sergey Rebrov. Before the match, Fradi’s mentor repeated more than once that the match against the Dynamo was just a game against the Dynamo and not a coaching duel between Rebrov and Lucescu. In my opinion, Sergei Stanislavovich was dark. He clearly wanted to beat his old friend. It was for the current Ferencváros manager that the October 28 game was more important than for the current Dynamo manager. Because Rebrov still has a good chance of returning to Kiev. But for Lucescu, the current work is probably a swan song. Therefore, Rebrov was ultimately unable to show the “product per face”. What exactly his team played in the first half remains a mystery. Let’s be frank: Rebrov and his players missed the first half.

4. Mircea Lucescu. Initially, the Kiev Mister game plan was correct. He is very disciplined in defense, active on the flanks, without unnecessary improvisations, only pushing in the center of the field. This simple set of options worked. The guests looked closely at the opponent for 15 minutes, after which they took the initiative, realizing that they had a slightly enhanced copy of Alexandria in front of them. Well, it’s true, in the first half, the “green eagles” were more like green chickens: everyone was running alone, there was no general picture of the game. And if the moment the first goal was scored we were lucky somewhere – the penalty was generally accidental, then De Pena’s ball is an exemplary counterattack. And in the “locker room”. It only remained to finish off the rival after the break.

5. Second half. From what I can tell, in the second half of the match, the people of Kiev were more concerned with maintaining the status quo than with thinking about the third goal scored. Whether or not this is the case is a matter of taste for everyone. Personally, I think Mircea Lucescu lost a “break” to his counterpart. If the guests went to the second half imposing and unmotivated, then Rebrov apparently managed to “fool” the charges.

6. Quick first goal for “Ferencvaros”. Nguyen, who was practically invisible in the first part, did not start the second part in the best way. But the bottom line is that “Fradi” has increased the overall speed of the team. The Dynamo did not offer even half pressure to the rival, trying to play in counterattacks, with shots to Supryaga. The elemental deconcentration of the “Dynamo” in defense, even a hint that he was not in the first half, allowed the locals to take a goal. If Zubkov is allowed to make the pass out of nowhere, and Nguyen to break through even more smoothly, then the laurels in this episode should be divided equally between the attacking and defending sides.

7. “The smell of blood.” Dynamo goalkeeper Boyko was right a hundred times when he said after the game that after scoring the first goal, “Ferencvaros” smelled blood. It is true. Even if the team clearly does not have the prefix “super”, but is motivated enough, while the opponent “forgot” to enter the field after the break, the game can be changed. Rebrov’s team stepped up the attack. Well, the best I could. No, there wasn’t much pressure, because there is no one to “do it” there. But some players had high speeds. But the Kiev footballers were unable to rebuild during the second half of the match.

8. Take off a blanket. I was surprised to think that the Kiev players in the second half played as scattered as their opponents in the first half of the match. That father-in-law, the team seemed to be there, but there wasn’t just one team. Everyone played alone: either they “sold” themselves in such a stupid way, or they really didn’t know how to improve.

9. Substitutions. The Dynamo’s first substitution took place in the 82nd minute: Buyalsky was replaced by Garmash. Vitaly is clearly tired and his replacement was read even earlier. As well as the previous hypothetical replacement Tsygankov and Supryaga. But for some reason Lucescu “started to move” only after Sidorchuk’s red card. The Dynamo, who took to the field in an emergency, could not properly enter the game, not to mention their strength. In my opinion, the departure of Garmash and especially Beluta was a mistake.

10. Supryaga. I would not like to “trample” the boy again, but he is failing for the second time in a row in the Champions League. I understand there is no alternative now, but it still had to be changed before.

11. Elimination of Sidorchuk. There are no complaints about the Dynamo captain’s second yellow card – the referee is right, everything is in the case. There are complaints to Sidorchuk himself: why it was so dangerous to play, and in a situation that does not require it, that is, not near his own penalty area. I have an answer: if the director does not play the notes, what should be demanded of his pupils? They were not right either. We did not have time. So we finished playing. That moment became a turning point in the match.

12. Numerical majority. The hosts used the “extra” player very quickly. Maybe they were a bit lucky with a rebound, but we can also say that the God of football simply returned a favor for a penalty to Haratin.

13. Perspective. Basically, there was no disaster in Budapest. We have just seen once again that even a coach as experienced as Lucescu can be wrong. And that as a team “Dynamo” has not yet formed, wet. On the other hand, we understand that it is unrealistic for us to fight for the Champions League playoffs in this group. But we must fight for third place. Furthermore, the people of Kiev have the best prospects for the Eurospring. If only because the return match with Fradi is in Kiev. But work remains to be done on Lucescu’s mistakes and his charges.
