On the night of Sunday, October 25, the preliminary results of the exit polls were released, which give an idea of the leaders of the first round of the mayoral elections in the regional centers of Ukraine.

The local elections held today were held for the first time under the rules of the new Electoral Code. One of the innovations was a different procedure for electing mayors in cities, depending on the number of registered voters there.

In those settlements where there are fewer than 75,000 voters, the candidate with the most votes is declared the winner.

And in those cities where there are more than 75 thousand voters (These include incl. and all regional centers of Ukraine), only the candidate with more than 50% of the votes can become the winner of the first round. If none of the mayoral candidates has achieved such a result, a second round of elections should be held.
