WHO will test the quality of Sputnik V vaccine

WHO experts await data on Sputnik V vaccine candidate

The World Health Organization is negotiating with the creators of the Russian vaccine against COVID-19.

Russian Institute for Scientific Research of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Gamalei, from which a vaccine against the Sputnik V coronavirus was developed, proposed to WHO to add the drug to the list of vaccines for use in emergency situations . This was announced on Thursday, November 12 by Reuters.

Negotiations between the organizations are observed to continue.

“We look forward to seeing data on your Sputnik V vaccine candidate. If a product submitted for evaluation is found to meet the inclusion criteria, the WHO will release the results,” WHO said.

Therefore, a list of vaccines for use in emergency situations has not yet been developed. The organization is working on it. Once the list is ready, WHO will recommend that Member States use the vaccines it contains.

According to the agency, the WHO list will simplify the process of using vaccines and other new and unlicensed products during emergencies.

Earlier, the official representative of the European Commission, Eric Mamer, said that the European Union intends to use vaccines from European companies against the coronavirus and therefore does not consider the purchase of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.
