After Wuhan, the sources of the coronavirus can be looked for elsewhere
The first message about the new virus came from Wuhan, China, and that is where you should look for its source, the WHO chief said.
The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus, believes that the source of the first COVID-19 infection should be sought in Wuhan, China. After that, it will be possible to start studying the emergence of the coronavirus in other places. Gebreyesus said this on Friday, November 27, during a briefing.
“Regarding the study of the origin of the virus, one thing must be clear: this study will start in Wuhan in China, where the first message came from. Then, based on what is found, we can go to other places” – said Gebreyesus .
He also noted that the pandemic is spreading unevenly across the world, with 70% of COVID-19 cases occurring in just 10 countries. Testing plays an important role in fighting the pandemic, he said.
“Now we are sending these tests to different parts of the world,” Ghebreyesus said, adding that the program faces a funding shortfall of $ 500 million.
We will remember, said the German epidemiologist that in almost all current cases of COVID-19, people are infected with a strain that mutated in the spring in Italy. There, the coronavirus spread unnoticed for several weeks, after which it spread around the world.
Previously, the WHO gave recommendations on physical activity during the quarantine period.
