WHO director advises avoiding shopping malls with large numbers of people
Last week, for the first time since September, there was a decline in the number of new coronavirus cases. But it is too early to rejoice, as “achievements can easily be lost.”
The director of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus, said that the number of new cases of coronavirus infection decreased for the first time since September. He believes that one reason for the decline in infection is the “difficult and necessary measures” introduced in recent weeks, writes TASS.
“This is good news, but we must interpret it very carefully,” concluded Gebreyesus, as “achievements can easily be missed.”
The WHO chief noted that the decline in new COVID-19 cases was not recorded everywhere: “In most other regions of the world, the number of cases and deaths is growing.”
Gebreyesus, on the eve of Christmas and New Year, recommended celebrating the holidays with his family and avoiding inviting guests “from different families” and, if possible, meeting outside the premises.
“Avoid shopping malls with a large number of people, visit stores during hours when there are fewer shoppers and use online shopping if you can,” added the CEO.
Keep in mind that since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 63 million cases have been recorded in the world, more than 43.5 million people have recovered, and more than a million patients have died.
It was previously reported that in England during the lockdown period, the rise of COVID-19 decreased significantly.
We also add that the first cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in Cambodia. These are the first cases of coronavirus infection in the country, previously in the kingdom only the so-called imported cases of infection were registered.
