WHO announced the end of the pandemic

The end of the pandemic will occur in early 2022

“The worst case scenario is over,” as more is known about the coronavirus than at the beginning of the pandemic, experts say.

The coronavirus pandemic will end in early 2022, says Hans Kluge, head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe. He said this on Tuesday 23 February in an interview with the Danish television channel DR.

“The worst case scenario is behind us. We have known more about the virus since 2020, when the virus just started to spread,” Kluge said.

According to Kluge, the virus will continue to spread, but not all restrictions need to be applied. At the same time, he noted that this is a probable course of events, but the exact outcome cannot yet be determined.

Hans Kluge also said that new coronavirus mutations are the norm as the virus tries to adapt to humans.

The WHO is closely monitoring the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines due to the rapid spread of new types of viruses, he said. However, he noted that vaccines can be modified to combat new mutations, if necessary, and do not need to be created from scratch.

Let us remind you that the Oxford / AstraZeneca vaccine was registered in Ukraine yesterday for emergency medical use. The drug is produced by the Indian manufacturer Serum Institute. The vaccine has the local (trade) name CoviShield.

In addition, the G7 will allocate $ 7.5 billion for vaccination of poor countries. G7 leaders said they will accelerate global development and the introduction of vaccines, as well as share medicines with poor countries.
