“Mariupol” head coach Ostap Markevich commented on his team’s match against “Dynamo” on matchday 12 of the Ukraine Championship, in which the Azov team lost with a score of 1: 2.
– I think both teams showed good football today. I would, of course, like our performance to be more meaningful in terms of working with the ball. But here you have to take into account the personal situation in which we find ourselves: too many of our players could not enter the field today. And the opportunity to carry out such a rotation, as, for example, leads “Dynamo”, we still, unfortunately, do not have. I believe that today we are fighting with dignity. Even though there were a lot of young players in our squad. Young people need time to compete with a team like Dynamo Kiev. But we have a training ground ahead of us, we will work.
– Today your team showed a very high level of dedication, focus on the fight. Why doesn’t Mariupol fight at this level in matches with Shakhtar, moreover, for many years?
– Did you see our match with Shakhtar well? We don’t care who plays against us. The only caveat is that in the matches against Shakhtar we cannot involve a large number of our players, the ones we hire from the Pitmen. As for the rest, believe me: as long as I’m on this team, there will be no privileges for anyone, not for Dynamo or for Shakhtar.
