A former Kremlin prisoner, one of the leaders of the Crimean Tatars, Akhtem Chiygoz, responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s words that “no one thought of Crimea” before him.

Deputy Chief of the Crimean Tatar People’s Mejlis, European Solidarity People’s Deputy, former Kremlin political prisoner Akhtem Chiygoz responded to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement that before him “no one thought about returning from Crimea.” This is reported by the “EU” website.

Chiygoz considers Volodymyr Zelensky’s remarks about the Crimean unemployment unfair and dishonorable. He recalled that in the first years after the occupation, “when the Crimean occupation authorities imprisoned the Crimean Tatars for resistance, Zelensky, along with Kvartal 95, at the same time mocked Ukraine.”

“You were not the president then. But if you considered yourself a citizen of Ukraine, then you should think that these little jokes insult and humiliate many, most of the Ukrainians who shed blood for their country. Who, being in occupation, fight , he loses his life, he falls into captivity, “Chiygoz said.

In his view, the majority of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians in Crimea are “shocked by the messages they constantly hear” from Zelensky and his team, in particular, about the water supply to Crimea. “Our citizens are not asking for water. They are not asking for some kind of humanitarian aid. Our citizens are fighting, dying and imprisoned to liberate Crimea from the occupier, to expel it from their land,” the deputy recalled.

He also recalled that Ukraine’s international partners also participated in the Crimean vacate, which are now being invited by the Ukrainian authorities to join the Crimean platform.

Chiygoz believes that in a year and a half in power, Zelensky took no real action to protect the Crimean Tatar people. In particular, he criticized the president for the fact that the laws “designed to protect and solve the Crimean Tatar problem”, developed at the initiative of the Mejlis under the presidency of Petro Poroshenko, after the arrival of Zelensky “were left up in the air.”

“For a year and a half, having wasted so much time, are you now trying to declare that no one has taken care of the Crimea with you? We have not seen anything productive from you in Crimea,” Chiygoz summarized.

Before Zelensky came to power in the West imposed sanctions against Russia for Crimea and Donbass, international organizations have more than once condemned the aggression and failed to recognize the occupation, and Ukraine has filed several lawsuits against the Russian Federation.

In particular, two complaints were filed with the European Court of Human Rights from 2014 and 2015, which were combined into one in 2018. In January 2021, the ECHR declared the complaint partially admissible (almost all points were met). RF will be tried for human rights violations in Crimea.

Russia annexed Crimea after Illegal “referendum” on March 16, 2014… Ukraine and most of the countries of the world do not recognize the accession of the peninsula to the Russian Federation. The European Union, the United States, and several other states have imposed sanctions against Russia for the occupation of Crimea.

In 2014, immediately after the annexation of Crimea, Russia launched an armed aggression in eastern Ukraine. The fighting is between the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the one hand, and the Russian army and the Russian-backed militants who control parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions on the other. The Russian Federation does not officially recognize its invasion of Ukraine, despite the facts and evidence presented by Ukraine.
