The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ruslan Khomchak, allowed the cancellation of compulsory military service in the country. He named the necessary conditions for this, first of all, the preparation of the reserve and the training of all citizens in the basics of tactical medicine.
Khomchak said this on October 14 on the air of the Ukrainian television channel.
According to Khomchak, the authorities have the idea of abandoning the draft.
“In the long term, we have a vision of rejecting recruitment. But this can only be when we have a system to train the reserve. We must create such a work system so that everyone close to home can protect it minimally. Why should a citizen of Ukraine not be trained in all elements of tactical medicine? According to the commander-in-chief, the creation of such a system will take more than a year.
“Such systems require funding, training of personnel, ranging from ordinary civilians to heads of community and state leadership. He also recalled that this year the number of conscripts for military service was reduced.
