The “blue light” in “Russia-1” turned out to be more popular in Ukraine than “Kvartal”
Despite the policy of Ukrainianization and minimization of ties with Russia, which the Ukrainian authorities are following, the citizens of Ukraine themselves seem to be heading in a different direction. At least when it comes to reading and watching content on the Internet.
We have already published the main Google trends for the year in Ukraine: they have a lot of Russian, and even more, Russian-speaking.
And this situation only got stronger: a year earlier there was much more Ukrainian content on the search engine and its subsidiaries like YouTube.
The New Year holidays showed the same trend. The Russian language was the soloist on Google and YouTube, and Putin’s New Year’s greetings interested Ukrainians nothing less than Zelensky’s appeal.
“Strana” analyzed the holiday Internet interests of Ukrainians.
“Blue light” is more popular than “Kvartal”
On the morning of January 2, an indicative selection of videos broke into the Ukrainian YouTube video hosting trends. These are videos that Ukrainians have watched in recent days, that is, also on vacation.
The first place was taken by the premiere of the Russian comedy program “What happened next?”, Where Russian film and television stars are invited. It came out exactly on New Year’s Eve.
Second place was taken by the clip by Russian artist Morgenstern, which was released on December 30. And the third – “Blue light” on the TV channel “Russia 1”. Which is very significant in general, that is, many Ukrainians spent the new year under the Russian show.
The fourth was another Russian Yuri Dud, who recorded a video with Ukrainian TV host Anton Ptushkin.
And only in fifth place was the New Year’s edition of “Evening Quarter”. That is, he was seen on YouTube with less will than the Russian “Blue Light”.
Then there are two more Ukrainian videos: Vladimir Zelensky’s New Year’s greetings and the Diesel Show launch. And then, in eighth place, again a Russian video with a review from the famous film critic BadComedian. About the Russian film “New Year’s Lawlessness-2”.
Closing the top ten are two more Russian projects: the “Straight Out Kakha” series and the “Let’s Get Married” talk show.
That is, in the top ten YouTube Christmas trends there are only three videos from Ukraine, the rest are Russian. The same story and video below the top ten – Russia’s President’s New Year’s TV speech became twelfth place there. And many other Russian projects.
Let us remind you that this is a list of trends that are being formed for users in Ukraine.
Putin’s congratulations surpass Zelensky
The requests of the Ukrainians via Google for the main holiday, on December 31, are also eloquent.
First of all there is the request in Russian “Happy New Year 2021”. It has grown twice as strong as the analog in the Ukrainian language (“Z Novyi rokom”) – it is also the only one in the top ten among Ukrainian speakers.
In addition, in the top ten there are two more Russian requests with similar wording: “New Year 2021” and “Happy New Year”.
The fourth and fifth places are shared by the “Moscow time” and “Pugachev” queries. In seventh place is the request “Congratulations to Putin 2021”, while Zelensky’s congratulations are not in the top ten.
And only in the thirteenth position there is a request “Presidential Privitana con New Rock” – that is, the speech is specifically about the Ukrainian head of state, whose address “Strana” has already analyzed.
As you can see, Google put him under Putin’s appeal to Russians. Remember that these are only inquiries from the territory of Ukraine.
In the top ten queries on January 1, the picture is similar. There is only one application, which can be interpreted with a section in the Ukrainian language: “Stepan Bandera”.
Note that in Russian, the first and last name of the OUN leader, who would have turned 112 yesterday, sounds exactly the same.
The rest of the requests were in Russian. Ukrainians Googled Happy New Year greetings and stars of show business. Of these, only Nastya Kamenskikh is from Ukraine, the other two are Russian singer Valeria and American rapper MF Doom.
The only film in search of this day is the Russian “The Last Bogatyr”.
That is, the information space of Ukraine and Russia not only preserves unity, but also strengthens it, despite the fact that politically this process is being pushed in the opposite direction.
The Google figures also refute Zelenskiy’s recent statement that “after the annexation of Crimea and the aggression in Donbass, we are left with only one thing of the” common “: this is the state border. It turns out that there are practically no such borders. on the Internet, despite constant crashes.
