The group stage of the current Champions League promises to be one of the most interesting for the Ukrainian fans in recent years. Still, for the first time since 2016, two Ukrainian teams will play in the group stage, and in a couple of months Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Messi, Ronaldo and Sergei Rebrov will visit Kiev with their team. The lot is not easy, but it was difficult to find more interesting ones. What are the chances of Dynamo and Shakhtar making the playoffs? Understanding:

Leaving the group. Favbet Odds:
Royal – 1.15
Inter – 1.4
Borussia M – 3.5
Miner – 3.7
Admittedly, Shakhtar were unlucky with the draw. From the 3rd and 4th basket, the Pitmen faced the most difficult opponent of all: Inter and Borussia de Mönchengladbach. Not to mention that someone simpler than Real (for example, Seville or Porto) could have come out of the first basket. And if you look at the odds, the bookmakers do not firmly believe in the passing of miners, the probability is less than 25%. The fight against Borussia Gladbakh for third place and entry to the Europa League seems much more real. Everything is natural. “Real” is “Real”, of all the major clubs, it is the only one that has consistently reached the Champions League playoffs since 1997. The probability of passing Madrid is close to 100%. Inter can not boast of such stability, but in August, in the semi-finals of the Europa League, they faced Shakhtar and clearly showed that at the moment they are teams of slightly different levels. So the only thing left for the miners is the fight with Gladbach for 3rd place. Although you shouldn’t discount Castro’s team at all

Leaving the group. Favbet Odds:
Barcelona – 1.13
Juventus – 1.15
Dynamo – 4.5
Ferencvaros – 8
From a media coverage point of view, Dynamo found an ideal group. The Dynamo haven’t played Barcelona for 11 years and Juventus at all 18. Watching games against Messi and Ronaldo, what could be cooler? More “Ferencvaros” by Sergei Rebrov. There is already a joke amongst Dynamo fans that 4-5 years ago they couldn’t have imagined they would have to cheer for Lucescu against Rebrov.
But from the point of view of the real struggle to get out of the group, everything is much worse. Dynamo delighted the fans with their performance and, most importantly, with the result in the games against AZ and Gent. But everyone understands that Barcelona and Juventus are completely different, and the last meeting between Kiev and a rival of this level (Chelsea) ended in a 0: 8 defeat on aggregate. And if Lucescu’s team manages to take points away from Barcelona or Juventus at least once, it will already be a great achievement. The fight against Ferencváros for 3rd place seems much more real, and here the Dynamo are already the favorites. Sergei Rebrov has already done the almost impossible: for the first time in 25 years he led Ferencvaros to the Champions League. He’s already a hero. But you can’t jump over your head
Forecast: We will have a vibrant group stage and many spectacular matches. But the chances of the Ukrainian teams against the European giants are objectively small, and it would be the most logical thing possible for Shakhtar to be absent from the odds of 1.25 and Dynamo to 1.18.
