Shakhtar and Ukraine’s central defender Mykola Matvienko is not a priority transfer target for West Ham. This was reported by The Telegraph with a reference to the words of head coach David Moyes.
Hammerman’s mentor said James Tarkovsky is the top choice for his team. But if Burnley asks for £ 50m for his defender, they won’t be able to afford that transfer and will consider an alternative: Matvienko.
West Ham recently sold Grady Diangana and plans to use the proceeds of the deal to buy the defender. West Ham offered £ 30 million for Tarkovsky, while Transfermarkt estimates the 27-year-old Englishman at £ 20 million.
However, the Shakhtar leadership is not going to sell Matvienko for a small amount either. The club is willing to consider proposals starting at 20 million euros.
It was previously reported that Matvienko is set to move to another Premier League club – Leeds United.
