In Ukraine, a new type of restrictions may appear in the near future due to the spread of the coronavirus: the so-called “weekend quarantine”.
The popular deputy of the Servant of the People, chairman of the National Parliamentary Commission for Health, Medical Assistance and Health Insurance Mikhail Radutsky spoke about this on the air of the social and political program Right to Power.
He clarified that next Saturday a meeting will be held with the president, where, among other things, changes to the decree on quarantine zoning will be discussed.
“Second, my proposal is supported by the NSDC, I hope the president supports it, this is necessary today. What Shevchenko University did. It sent me to study in distance education,” he said.

The deputy believes that schools and universities, higher education institutions, educational institutions should be sent remote control now.
“We cannot enforce a strict quarantine, we understand that. But we can introduce weekend quarantine… When a family stays with their family for a weekend, they don’t go anywhere, not to concerts, not to restaurants, not anywhere else. This can be tolerated, this is not the closure of companies, this is not a stop ”, he emphasized.
Radutsky also announced the arrival of the first batch of rapid tests from Switzerland to Ukraine next week – they have a 99% certificate.
“They will do PCR in 15 minutes, not ELISA, but PCR. They are very cheap. Its precision is greater than the PCR that we usually do ”, he summarized.
Quarantine in Ukraine: what is known
- Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said that Ukraine is still unable to follow the path of some European countries and Israel and reintroduce strict quarantine (blockade). Stepanov emphasized that everything has a certain limit and Ukraine’s medical system will not support it if Ukrainians do not begin to adhere to the anti-epidemic rules without exception.
- The Cabinet of Ministers also ruled out another closure in Ukraine due to the coronavirus pandemic and convinced that local elections would not be postponed either. And all this sounded in the context of the information about a new anti-registration of infected coronavirus in Ukraine.
