A “normal specialist” should receive up to 20,000 UAH a month in the Office of the President of Ukraine, says Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko.
The state budget of Ukraine for 2021 prescribes an increase in the costs of the Office of the President (OP). Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko told Radio Svoboda in an interview published on September 19.
“More than 300 million UAH. I will explain. In recent years, I think that probably for five or six years, the presidents of Ukraine did not consider it necessary to take over the office, think about office expenses, etc. In in this sense, the level of salaries employed, and these are people who work in the Office of the President, compared to the Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers and the apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada, is much lower, “he said.
The minister expressed the opinion that a “normal specialist” should receive up to 20 thousand hryvnyas per month in the OP.
“There is much more in the Cabinet and the Verkhovna Rada … It would be normal practice [повысить зарплаты]… Because they are consistent in their functions. When we did this, they started to reproach us that this was some kind of, sorry, politics. I am willing to take on this responsibility. We looked at the budget, we saw a disproportion and we counted it, “explained Marchenko.
According to him, the OP “considers it necessary to cut and reduce costs to the 2020 level”.
“Okay. This is your decision … In the second reading of the budget consideration, on the proposals of the people’s deputies, it is possible to change [расходы]”, – said the minister.
According to the head of the OP, Andrei Yermak, 419 people work on the staff of his department.
The state budget project for 2021 was published on September 14. Its income is forecast at the level of UAH 1.071 trillion, expenses – UAH 1.35 trillion and a deficit of UAH 270 billion. The rate, on the basis of which the Ministry of Finance calculated the main indicators for the coming year, is set at the level of 29.1 UAH / $.
On September 18, the people’s deputy of the Golos faction Yaroslav Zheleznyak said that the state budget project for 2021 cost increases to the Office of the President of Ukraine by 39%.
