In the main match of the twelfth round of the Ukrainian championship, which in parallel can be called “The Battle of the Two Rivers”, or a meeting between a teacher and a student (Maximov played under the leadership of Ryabokon in Borisfen), Vorskla Poltava came to visit Desna. There was much talk in the home stadium of the residents of Chernihiv, it even got to the point that a recent participant in European competitions could be on the street, but today everything was fine and the teams played without obstacles.
Staffing issues didn’t allow mentors to release the strongest. He is not yet ready to play Totovitsky, whose place was again taken by Arveladze. Good for the hosts, Kalitvintsev eventually returned to the right flank. Alexander Ryabokon decided to surprise his rival by choosing a game model with three centrals.
Maximov couldn’t use Kane, Kulach, and also Chesnakov, who, despite all the talk, was out of the app again. On the offensive line, Poltava’s coach again released Shcherbak, and in midfield, Chelyadin. There were no special questions for the rest of the items.
Throughout the 90 minutes, there was tension between the players who understood the importance of today’s game. A little more active than the beginning of “Vorskla”, but it was Chernigov who knew how to create the most dangerous moment of the middle. And maybe the whole game. Mudryk ran at an angle to meet Ryznik, but the keeper won the up-and-coming Ukrainian duel. Mikhail had a great opportunity to score his first goal at UPL, but did not realize the perfect timing.
As for the rest, there was a lot of fighting and the initiative went from one side to the other, so it is difficult to say from the beginning who made the most of a goal. If in the first half we mark Mudrik’s blow as the most dangerous, then there is no point in highlighting something separately in the second half. “Desna” looked more interesting, trying to play the first number, while the opponent decided not to let the tit slip out of his hands, realizing that a point today will allow them to remain in the third row.
And already at that moment, when the commentator began to summarize the results, and the report of this fight was being prepared for publication, the “Northerners” had set a dangerous standard. You could say fatal. Degtyarev already entered as a substitute in injury time, and after getting into the penalty area he hit his head. At first it seemed that Riznyk had time to weather the blow, but apparently the ball still flew over the goal line. And even if not, after a second, Tamm finally hit the sphere.
But the questions still remained in the arbitration. In the first place, it seemed to many that the penalty had been unfairly given to the latter, because Yakubu did not push Hemp from behind. Stepanyuk also received the second yellow card, which he first played along with his hand and then also hit after the whistle. Even if the forward did not hear this, he argued it too actively to Catherine Monzul, for which he could also receive a yellow card. Everything is probably fair here. But one should not think that only Desna was lucky. Even in the middle of the second half, the “Northerners” could hit a penalty when the ball hit the defender’s hand, but the referee decided not to aim for the point. It is very likely, judging from the repetition, that this decision was wrong.
Let’s summarize. An absolutely equal match, with a minimum of dangerous moments, which, in all fairness, should have ended in a 0: 0 draw. Because more teams have not played enough. But for the first time in the last month, fortune sided with Ryabokon’s team, allowing it to interrupt a series of failures. They tried harder than the rival and, as we know, the lucky guy is lucky. Chernihiv is already third and they have to play twice before the end of the year.
