Vorskla 0: 0. Lugansk residents hold the pressure, go on the offensive, but … ᐉ UA-Football

Two years ago, facing off in the last round, Vorskla beat Zorya and won bronze medals at the Ukrainian championship. So, however, the town of Poltava was headed by Vasily Sachko, and the town of Lugansk was headed by Yury Vernidub. Now it’s not even the middle of the season, the coaches are other specialists, but this match was really important for the opponents. Having beaten the current bronze medalist from the last championship, Poltava would have obviously established himself as one of the top contenders for the podium. It was extremely important for Zarya to prove to himself and others that, despite setbacks in the international arena and financial difficulties, he remains a major force at UPL.

This time Viktor Skripnik was unable to use Vitaly Vernidub, who was disqualified. Quite unexpectedly, the coach nominally put one flank of Rufati in the center of the defense alongside Abu Hannah. Khomchenovskiy returned to the left flank of the defense, while Favorov came out on the right. Instead of Lunev, who played in attack in the match against AEK, Gladkyy came out. The rest of the positions were filled by regular interpreters.

Yuri Maksimov’s main problem was the absence of Vladislav Kulach. Therefore, Shcherbak played in attack together with Stepanyuk. A little lower, but along the entire front, Kane attacked, whose freedom of action was provided by a supporting Sklyar – Puzlin pair. “Vorskla” continued the game with three centrals – Chesnakov, Yavorsky and Alyun, on the edges were Perduta and Yakubu.

“Vorskla” apparently decided to take advantage of the fact that “Zorya” played a difficult match (from a psychological point of view) in the Europa League just two days ago. Easily resisting the host’s imitation of initial activity, the guests suggested that the pace and speed were high enough for our latitudes. In the center of the field, the ball was hardly delayed, Maximov’s defenses ran easily into his attacks, focusing on the flanks, where Kane moved in support of Yakubu or Perdut.

Yuri Maksimov understood that Zarya’s current center of defense was the weak point of his former teammate at Werder Bremen and the national team. So Poltava’s team relied on flank and corner shots. It was after such actions that Vorskla was able to open an account in the first half. Already in the opening, Yavorsky made a dangerous header after a corner. More precisely, Sergei was allowed to shoot without interference, but he sent the ball exactly into Shevchenko’s hands. In the middle of the half, Canet became famous with Favorov and did a spotted serve on Stepanyuk. Ruslan appeared to win safely, but the ball went close to the post. Finally, Shevchenko really came into play, when Kochergin, after another flank overhang (from Yakubu), cut under the far post. In a spectacular jump, Nikita stopped him. One can also remember Shcherbak’s shot from an acute angle, and two against one, ruined by Kane (and the defender managed to return and interrupt the pass), which was only emphasized – in the first half, “Vorskla” had an advantage.

But only a few minutes before 40. And then the air was released from the Poltava team. Before the break, the Lugansk people had more than one chance to retreat, taking the lead. At first, Gladkiy didn’t have enough room to close out Yurchenko’s serve at the far post after a quick counterattack. He then turned the defenders in the penalty area, but Riznyk went ahead in time and avoided the shot. And in the 43rd minute, the Vorskla goalkeeper made the best save, perhaps, of the entire round: Favorov, after a pass from the side, struck from 14 meters below the post himself below the defender, but Dmitry, by some miracle, he reacted and rejected the ball. in the corner. The break was completed with a kick from Khomchenovsky, but compared to Favorov’s moment for Riznyk, it was an easy warm-up.

In the second half, “Zorya” already looked like the master of the situation, although the constant incursions of Kane, Perduti and Yakubu kept in suspense and fueled the intrigue. However, according to the moments, the Lugansk team had to win with more than one goal. I beat Yurchenko’s blow from 20 meters, which was taken by the crossbar. Or the incredible Gladky fault from a meter in an empty arch behind a Favorov center. And after Kochergin’s kick with a rebound, Riznyk had to work hard to cover the ball in the bottom corner.

He did not help “Vorskla” to take control and elimination as part of “Zarya”. On the 58th, Khomchenovskiy struck Kana’s knee with a straight leg. The referee, after alerting the video assistant and watching the replay, canceled the yellow and showed Dmitry the red. However, Pavel Child, who replaced Shcherbak after the break, tied the line-ups in just over ten minutes – the experienced midfielder earned two optional yellow cards.

In the last 15 minutes on the field there was more confusion, in which both one and the other team could be lucky. The game of “Dawn” in the attack was revived by Alahyar Sayadmanesh, who easily entered the penalty area of ”Vorskla”, but the defenders did not give him time and space to deliver the decisive blow. If Dmitry Riznyk constantly had to do hard goalkeeping work, then Poltava didn’t really bother Nikita Shevchenko. In the end, the final whistle registered zeroes on the scoreboard, which continued the trend for both teams: “Zorya” and “Vorskla” for two cannot win in seven straight matches. Poltava’s team even returned to third place because of what they achieved at the beginning of the season, but the people of Luhansk have to wallow at the bottom of the standings. One way or another, a good goalless game doesn’t score points.
