Vitaly Markiv, a Ukrainian military man acquitted by the Italian Court of Appeal, claimed that the Italian court and the Italian investigation tried to obtain information from him that he could not express, as he was taking a military oath. The national guard reported on this on the air of the program “Freedom of expression of Savik Shuster”.

“They wanted information from me that I couldn’t give them. And the information they asked me, I openly told them: make a request to the Ministry of the Interior, to the Ministry of Defense. If you authorize in writing to provide you will have that information, we will talk with you. But this way it doesn’t suit them ”, – said Markiv.

According to the military, for this reason, the court of first instance granted him a longer term than expected.

“The prosecutor asked for 17 years, and because they were motivated by the lack of cooperation with the investigating authorities, they were given 24 years,” Markiv explained.

Vitaliy Markiv pointed out that since he is a Ukrainian military man and was sworn in, he could not release classified information.

Recall that on November 3, the Milan Appeal Jury acquitted Vitaly Markiv, who had previously been sentenced to 24 years in prison. The next day, November 4, he returned to Ukraine.
