In Lviv, they said goodbye to the legendary director, People’s Artist of Ukraine and the Russian Federation Roman Viktyuk. He died on November 17 in Moscow at the age of 85.
The main part of the funeral ceremony took place in the building. First Ukrainian theater for children and young people – in the morning they brought a coffin with Viktyuk’s body there. After the ceremony in the theater, the artist was buried in the church of San Andrés. Later, the coffin with the director’s body was taken to the Lychakiv cemetery, where Roman Viktyuk was buried in the family crypt, together with his parents.
His friends, students, theater workers, actors, admirers of the director’s work not only from Lviv, but also from Kiev, Odessa and other cities in Ukraine came to the Young Spectator Theater to say goodbye to the director. In addition, the mayor of Lviv, Andrey Sadovy, came to the ceremony.
“He is a holy man. He called us children – nephews and nieces. We have always been children, and he is a brother to us. We love him very much and we will love him. It is very difficult, this is an unexpected death. For the whole family it is a great loss “, – Boris Viktyuk, nephew of Roman Viktyuk, told reporters.
Note that the First Theater for Young Spectators in Lviv was a special place for Viktyuk; It was there that he began his acting career and soon became a director.
We will remember, on Friday November 20, the farewell ceremony with Roman Viktyuk took place in Moscow, where he lived since the early 70s. The funeral took place in the building of the Viktyuk Theater.
