Ukrainian tennis player Sergey Stakhovsky on Thursday he got into an unpleasant situation during a match against the German Mats Moraing.
In the fourth game of the third set, Moraing in the first tie with his serve struck out out of bounds, but the referee wrongly credited a point to the German tennis player. Stakhovsky was not immediately aware of the catch, but after the referee handed the game to the opponent, he counted all the plays in his head and protested this decision.
The referee could have asked the supervisor to verify the video score, but he did not want to. The rival also stepped aside, saying that he did not remember how points were played. After that, the Ukrainian decided to withdraw from the party.
Note that Stakhovsky has already completed his Challenger performances in Ostrava, having also lost the doubles match.
Stakh: We can verify a live broadcast.
Supervisor: It doesn’t work like that.
Stakh: Are you 100% sure you’re right?
President: Now I am not. But we have to follow the score we have, there is no other way.
Stakhovsky retires: I can leave the court because instead of 3-0 40/30 is 4-0. pic.twitter.com/a5cfXI70M9– Oleg S. (@ AnnaK_4ever) September 3, 2020
