How was he?

On the eve of the network images of the hatchback VAZ-2118 appeared, which is the predecessor of LADA Vesta. The prototype was launched in 2008 and was created using workarounds: This failed S. Hatchback project was developed alongside a sedan, but the five-door, unlike the four-door car, received more than 60 changes.

The main one was a 1.8-liter engine with 112 horsepower. One pair of the engine was a 6-band manual transmission with a cable drive. This power unit complies with the ecological standards Euro-4 and Euro-5. Also, this engine could boast the most reliable starting in cold conditions.

As part of the project, AvtoVAZ created the original architecture with front-wheel drive and a 2.0-liter engine. The developers also planned to launch an automatic transmission and a diesel engine. The VAZ-2118 hatchback positioned itself as a family car: it had bigger dimensions, a nice exterior design and a comfortable interior with high-quality materials.

The car also boasted of a higher level of safety: crash tests of the prototype with the body called “Magma” scored 13 points out of 16 according to EuroNCAP. Plans were made to launch the Silhouette family cars in series in 2012, however, on the initiative of Renault-Nissan, the creation of entirely new models was frozen. In 2014 AvtoVAZ finally buried Project C.
