Vaccination against coronavirus in Ukraine should cover 23 million people

The coronavirus vaccination plan approved by the Ministry of Health provides for the vaccination of 23 million Ukrainians. This will require 40 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine.

The state’s chief medical officer, Viktor Lyashko, recounted this in an interview with Radio NV.

According to Lyashko, the preparation of the vaccination rooms and mobile teams, which will vaccinate the Ukrainians, is already beginning.

“I understand that for this we will need 40 million doses … And so we have prescribed it until the first quarter of 2022 – for this period we are ready and trained (with the help of – ed.) The skills of our medical workers, logistics ( capacities – ed.) to cover 23 million people with vaccines, “he explained.

The chief medical officer noted that 2.6 billion hryvnia were allocated in the state budget for 2021 for coronavirus vaccines. In addition, Ukraine must receive a vaccine under the COVAX mechanism.

We will recall, before that Lyashko said that Ukraine is negotiating with WHO to get double the coronavirus vaccine as part of COVAX. The government expects to receive another 8 million doses of drugs.

We add that the national vaccination plan for Ukrainians against the coronavirus was approved by the Ministry of Health yesterday, December 22. The plan includes four stages.
