The United States Presidential Debating Commission decided to cancel the second round of televised debates between President Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Joe Biden. The event was scheduled for Thursday, October 15.
This is stated in a statement from the United States Presidential Debate Commission.
The department said the decision was made because the candidates announced their other plans for the evening.
They also clarified that they intend to focus on the final round of the debate, which will be held in Nashville. Both candidates agreed to participate in the debate on October 22.
Recall that the first part of the Trump-Biden television debate took place on September 29. The United States Presidential Debate Commission decided to conduct a second round on October 15 online due to Trump’s coronavirus. However, the American leader opposed this format and refused to participate in it.
Note that Biden also declined to participate in the debate while Trump is sick with coronavirus.
As RBC-Ukraine wrote, Trump confirmed COVID-19 on October 2. He spent several days in the hospital, but has already returned to the White House. Bloomberg, citing sources, said Trump will return to the election campaign next week.
