The state of Georgia will be holding a recount due to a small gap between the candidates. Secretary of State for State Brad Raffensperger announced this at a briefing.
As CNN reports, citing the election commission, 4169 ballots remain in Georgia. Democratic candidate Joe Biden is leading the way, while incumbent Republican President Donald Trump is just 1,579 votes behind him.
A victory in Georgia gives the candidate 16 electoral votes. Without Georgia and Pennsylvania, which Biden also recently began leading, Trump will not be able to muster the 270 electoral votes needed to win.
In the United States, the results of the general elections on November 3 are being summarized, in which the Americans elected president and vice president, 435 members of the House of Representatives, 35 Senate legislators and 13 governors of states and territories.
The vote count is in the final stage. Six states did not release data: Alaska, Nevada, Arizona, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia.
