The president-elect of the United States, Joe Biden, has decided the candidacy of the future secretary of state. The name of the candidate is expected to be announced next week.

This is reported by The Hill, citing a well-informed source.

“It is not clear who will become Biden’s nominee, but a former Obama administration official confirmed to Hill that Tony Blinken, a veteran diplomat and longtime Biden ally, is considered the front-runner for the position, “says the report.

Senators Chris Kus and Chris Murphy, former First Under Secretary of State and Ambassador to Russia William Burns, and former National Security Adviser to President Barack Obama Susan Rice were also named as possible candidates for the post of Secretary of State.

Earlier it was learned that former US President Barack Obama is pressuring his former national security adviser Susan Rice for the post of secretary of state. The Democratic Party initially viewed Rice as a possible vice president.

We will recall, earlier Joe Biden named the names of several other high-ranking officials in the future White House administration.

The Washington Post wrote that Joe Biden’s team is considering appointing former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as the US Permanent Representative to the UN.
