A spokesman for the US presidential administration announced Washington’s disappointment with today’s demonstration of the new Hwaseong-15 ballistic missile. Pyongyang, he said, continues with a banned nuclear program instead of taking care of the lives of its people.

US leaders are disappointed with North Korea’s demonstration of a new ICBM, Reuters reported Oct. 10, citing a senior White House official.

Washington has once again asked Pyongyang to negotiate nuclear disarmament.

A US spokesman said “Washington regrets to see Pyongyang continue to prioritize its banned nuclear and missile programs over its work on the bright future of the North Korean people.”

North Korea held a parade today to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Labor Party. It demonstrated the new “Hwaseong-15” ballistic missile (it has the longest range of all missiles ever tested in the DPRK).

Reuters notes that the new ballistic missiles were unveiled at the military parade for the first time since 2018, when DPRK leader Kim Jong-un held several rounds of talks with world leaders, including US President Donald Trump.

Since 2006, North Korea has conducted six nuclear weapons tests and dozens of ballistic missile launches. The EU, the UN Security Council, the United States and several countries have imposed sanctions against the country; restrictive measures have been extended several times. At the same time, UN observers regularly report that the DPRK continues to improve its programs and violate sanctions.
