Oleksandr Shevchenko is the only officially registered candidate for the post of head of the Ukrainian Premier League.

On Friday, April 17, the application period for the position of president of the UPL officially ended. The only officially registered candidate is Oleksandr Shevchenko, a former vice-president of the Rukh, who is now the head of the Lviv Region Football Federation. He was nominated by two clubs: Lviv and Desna. This was reported by the journalist of the television channels “Fútbol 1/2/3” Igor Burbas in Twitter.

However, the journalist emphasized that there is an option with the extension of the registration deadline: this can happen if the postponed elections, scheduled for April 27, are postponed.

UPL confirmed on its official website that Shevchenko is the only candidate. Furthermore, it is stated that in accordance with the decision of the League Directorate, the general election meeting of the UPL participants will be held on April 27.

Previously, Oleg Smaliychuk (soccer agent and former Vice President of the Carpathians), Mykhailo Metreveli (expert on the television channels “Soccer 1/2/3”) and journalist Oleg Yashchuk expressed their desire to run for the post of chief of the UPL. Thomas Grimm, whose term expired in early April, did not appear.
