About 20 people were arrested
In the Swedish city of Malmo, riots broke out following the action with the burning of the Muslim holy book Quran. As a result, about 20 people were arrested.
This was reported by the SVT television channel.
The riots began on Friday, August 28 at night, protesters set fire to fireworks and firecrackers, threw stones at police and set car tires on fire with trash.
Towards evening, the situation worsened. The security forces tried to suppress the riots. This was done at approximately 4:00 am on Saturday.
The collisions damaged several police vehicles and at least one rescue vehicle. In the areas affected by the clashes, several cars also caught fire, the police have not yet confirmed whether the incidents were related to the riots.
About 20 people were arrested.
Swedish street artist Dan Pak previously planned to hold an anti-Islamic rally in the city, which planned to burn the Bacon-wrapped Quran. The authorities prohibited the demonstration for security reasons. As a result, it was still organized by members of the Danish far-right “Hard Course” party. They filmed the burning of the Quran, which they shared on social media, sparking the riots.
We will remember, earlier in the United States, that new riots began due to the shooting of police officers in a black man.
