Pentagon chief Mark Esper asked to be removed. He had a very tense relationship with the current president of the United States, Donald Trump.
It is reported by the NBC channel.
It is not uncommon for American heads of ministries to submit undated resignations during the presidential transition period. The head of state usually makes a decision after the election results are finally known.
However, in Esper’s case, according to officials, the situation could end in his resignation, the channel said.
It was previously reported that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, plans to fire the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Gina Haspel, and the Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper. He will do so in the event of re-election for a second term.
The White House said Trump would have fired these officials long ago because the president’s entourage does not trust them. However, Trump was not able to do this until the November 3 election.
It was also reported that the new head of the United States Department of Defense could be Robert Wilkie, who currently heads the Department of Veterans Affairs.
We will remember, Trump said he would ensure a peaceful transition of power in the event of his defeat in the election.
