Ukrainians to be screened for COVID-19 antibodies

Part of Ukrainians will be tested for antibodies against coronavirus

Ukraine’s Ministry of Health plans to test the blood for antibodies against coronavirus infection of at least 10,000 people.

The Health Ministry plans from next week to begin preparations for a large-scale study on the presence of antibodies in Ukrainian residents against the coronavirus, said Deputy Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko. On Saturday February 14, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

“There will be no massive tests for COVID-19, but we are talking about a seroepidemiological study, which will allow us to study the blood for the presence of immunoglobulin G and see how many cases of COVID-19 our system does not detect,” he told reporters .

Lyashko said that the study will analyze about 10,000 people throughout Ukraine, from whom, according to a representative sample, blood will be taken.

“On Tuesday we start: we collect all the health departments, present the design and agree on dates. The sample will take into account, in particular, sex, age, place of residence, occupation, ”said the Deputy Minister of Health.

We previously wrote that those who have had a coronavirus infection can get vaccinated as early as six months after the illness, says Deputy Health Minister Viktor Lyashko.
