The citizen of Ukraine, who was released from captivity in Libya, has no documents. According to Aleksandr Malkevich, a member of the Russian Public Chamber, he needs help from the Ukrainian Embassy. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The Ukrainian, released from captivity in Libya on January 2, flew with others to Moscow. This was announced by a member of the Public Chamber of Russia, Alexander Malkevich, writes “RIA Novosti” on Telegram.
“Sailors who have flown to Moscow from Libya do not have documents with them, so a Ukrainian citizen cannot be allowed to enter the Russian Federation,” the message says.
According to Malkevich, the Ukrainian embassy should help Ukraine.
The sailors said they were kept at a military base, but they did not see anyone because they were blindfolded all the time. The RIA Novosti agency published an interview with the sailors on its Telegram channel.
“We were tied up and we were constantly in the same position, it was impossible to change position. Everything was numb and uncomfortable. In the morning we started complaining. Then they left us in a different position,” said one of those released.
According to him, they treated them normally, gave them food, water and cigarettes. What purpose the people who detained the sailors were pursuing, they could not specify.
One citizen of Ukraine and three citizens of the Russian Federation were released from captivity in Libya. Malkevich announced this on January 2 on Telegram. According to Malkevich’s information, the sailors were captured “several weeks ago.”
Following the overthrow of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011, a new government was formed in the country, but in 2014 it split and clashes broke out in Libya between the two administrations. The internationally recognized government of national unity controls Tripoli, opposed by the “Tobruk government”, whose armed forces are commanded by General Khalifa Haftar.
