One of the developers of the vaccine is called epidemiologist, doctor of medical science Mikhail Favorov. He is also president of DiaPrep System Inc., a commercial medical company.
“We can count on that if everything goes absolutely fine and the power never goes out, then this is 9 months. Actually, this is one year,” he said of developing a vaccine.
At the same time, Favorov stressed that “these processes cannot be accelerated” and an untested vaccine cannot be used. Initially, you should perform all three phases of the trial and obtain positive results in the third phase.
The preclinical phase has already been completed, according to the Ministry of Health.
“Together with the scientists, we presented to the President the work, which lasted 6 months, on the development, passage of the preclinical phase of the vaccine against Covid-19. This phase consists of several great moments. We can say that it has already passed, that it was found out during this preclinical phase that this candidate for the vaccine has quite good prospects “, – said the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxim Stepanov.
According to him, the cost of developing a vaccine could cost between 100 and 150 million hryvnia.
The minister explained that it is now necessary to begin the clinical phase, which will be carried out with the full support of the state.
“We still need quite a bit of time to complete all the tests, because we are talking about a serious immunobiological agent,” Stepanov added.

His company wanted to conduct research in Turkey. Even if suddenly this development reaches the stage of a vaccine (which in itself is unlikely), it will be a Turkish vaccine with the participation of a Ukrainian subsidiary of an international private pharmaceutical company.
