A citizen of Ukraine Vladimir Zdorenko died on the territory of Russia in the correctional colony No. 1 in Adygea. This was announced on Saturday February 6 by the Crimean Human Rights Group with reference to the main expert of the Regional Center for Human Rights (RCHR) Roman Martynovsky.

According to him, Zdorenko was convicted in annexed Crimea for robbery. In violation of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), a Ukrainian was brought to Russia in 2019 to serve his sentence.

It is alleged that the prisoner was infected with HIV in prisons. The Ukrainian did not receive the necessary medical assistance, which is also a violation of IHL.

Recall that in 2020, 16 Crimean political prisoners were sentenced to up to 19 years in prison. At the same time, 424 people were deprived of the right to a fair trial and 77 were illegally transported out of Crimea.
