Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking in the general debate of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, said that the organization needs to be reformed and that Ukraine is ready to actively participate in this process. Thus, the Ukrainian leader recalled that the founding countries of the UN, including Ukraine, have come together to build a better world. However, the organization’s system is failing more and more due to being attacked by viruses.

“It is unacceptable when one of the permanent members of the UN Security Council violates the sovereignty of an independent state. This proves conclusively that the mechanisms of the 1945 model are not fully operational today. All of this can lead to further devaluation of the Security Council. Ukraine will actively participate in the process of its reform. ” the body should become more representative, balanced, transparent and efficient, “Zelensky said.

At the same time, he expressed the hope that already in 2021 the current session of the UN General Assembly will be remembered as a return to effective multilateralism, effective international solidarity and the fundamental principles that formed the basis for the creation of the organization. .
