President Volodymyr Zelenskyy supported Ukraine’s withdrawal from the agreement on the implementation of a monopoly policy agreed upon by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The head of state signed the relevant law today.

This was reported by the press service of the Presidency.

As stated in the OP, the withdrawal of this agreement by the CIS will protect the national economic interests of Ukraine.

“The agreement contains mechanisms for the exchange of information, so there is a risk that the members of the CIS will receive information that can be used to exert commercial and economic pressure on Ukraine,” the president explained.

It should be noted that the agreement was signed on January 25, 2000 in Moscow and ratified by the Ukrainian parliament by law of January 16, 2003. The Rada made the decision to withdraw from this agreement on November 5, 2020.

Recall that in early October, the Cabinet of Ministers made the decision to withdraw Ukraine from the CIS agreement on cooperation in the fight against illegal immigration.

Furthermore, on August 19, the government decided to withdraw from the international treaties concluded under the CIS, which had lost their meaning due to aggressive actions by Russia.
