The euphoria of the outstanding qualification of the Ukrainian team for the 2020 European Championship began to gradually subside. The COVID-19 coronavirus has moved the international forum one year in time, during which Andriy Shevchenko’s team was expected to cross another milestone in its history. Instead, the national teams did not meet for almost a year, and after this difficult period Ukraine did not show such reliable results.

Spain felt a decisive advantage in possession, as well as an ability to create scoring chances, so they opened up in attack and gave up immediately. Buschan took Karavaev out from the gate on the flank, Alexander threw his head at Yarmolenko, who with an instant pass sent Tsygankov to catch De Gea, who had escaped the gate somewhere by mistake. It turned out purely “Dynamo” goal.
There were just over 15 minutes to go to the end of the game, which became the most difficult for the Ukrainian team this season. The avalanche of attacks from the fallen flanks had to be contained, while the Spanish finally managed to break through Sobol’s resistance. However, Adama Traore, try as he might, was unable to provide help to his partners. The omnipresent Ramos didn’t help the guests either. And Shevchenko’s team simply established three defensive echelons, and at the same time Yaremchuk also had time to “bite” opponents in the pressure in the center of the field. Decent victory against a status rival!
The third international break of the current season for the Ukrainian team will be marked by away games against Germany (November 14, 2020) and Switzerland (November 17, 2020). On the same dates, the Spanish team will celebrate its guest meeting with Switzerland and its home meeting with Germany.
