Ismail Demir and Andrey Taran met today in Kiev

These are the first foreign economic transactions in the history of military goods concluded by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Defense Minister Andriy Taran signed agreements with Turkish companies on technology transfer and production of corvettes and unmanned attack systems for the needs of the Armed Forces. This was reported by the press service of the military department on Monday, December 14.

It was indicated that the signing took place in the framework of the visit of the Turkish delegation headed by the president of the Directorate of the Defense Industry of Turkey, Ismail Demir.

“First of all, we are talking about projects designed to radically strengthen the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian Navy to improve security in the Black Sea-Azov region,” the message reads.

According to Taran, these are the first foreign economic transactions of military goods concluded by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Let us remind you that in October Ukraine and Turkey signed a memorandum, outlining their intentions to initiate and implement joint projects for the construction of warships, UAVs and all types of turbine engines.

At the same time, Andriy Taran and the Turkish Minister of National Defense, Hulusi Akar, signed a framework military agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the government of the Turkish Republic.
