Ukraine paid $ 213.1 million to the International Monetary Fund.
“In February, the government and the National Bank paid 213.1 million dollars (in equivalent) in favor of the IMF – the return of the body and interest. The commitment fee was not paid during this period,” said the NBU, reported Ukrainian News.
The cost of International Monetary Fund loans for Ukraine in 2020 was 2.63% per annum (average rate and commission). This is significantly lower than the cost of attraction in foreign markets.
In particular, the average interest rate weighted by debt through the placement of Eurobonds is 7.2% per annum. If, instead of borrowing under the program, Ukraine attracted government bonds, last year’s payments would not have amounted to $ 274 million, but $ 763 million.
Ukraine will pay 1.16 billion SDRs (special lending rights) to the International Monetary Fund in 2021. At the official exchange rate, this is around $ 1.68 billion.
The day before, the International Monetary Fund, after negotiations with Ukraine, declared that there were a number of unresolved issues. Now the IMF awaits proposals from the Ukrainian side to continue the negotiations.
