The reserve of free beds for the treatment of coronavirus patients is rapidly decreasing in Ukraine.
The government is working to install beds in non-medical facilities in Kiev, Odessa and Donetsk Oblast. This was discussed in a meeting in the Office of the President on Monday, October 19.
In addition, an inventory of beds of the institutes of the National Academy of Medical Sciences and Ukrzaliznytsia hospitals was conducted. The Ministry of Health is considering these beds for emergency use.
“I am concerned about the high occupancy rate of beds in medical institutions. This month, the National Health Service of Ukraine has contracted 23 additional hospitals. With the increase in the number of patients, we must ensure that there are enough beds with oxygen in hospitals, “said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
It is noted that 571 million hryvnia were transferred to provide oxygen to beds in support hospitals.
The Health Ministry said they are licensing companies that produce the oxygen needed to provide hospitals. Now in Ukraine, 15.5 thousand hospital beds receive oxygen, almost 7.5 thousand are free.
Zelensky demanded to develop a health insurance program against COVID-19.
