Ukraine intends to fine Chinese vaccine supplier

Sinovac vaccines in Brazil

Under the terms of the purchase agreement, Ukraine must transfer and accept the first batch of the Chinese vaccine no later than March 7.

The company “Lekhim”, which is representative of Sinovac, postpones the delivery of the vaccine to Ukraine, for which the authorities intend to fine the supplier for its late delivery. About this on Friday, March 5, Reuters writes in reference to the Deputy Minister of Health, Igor Ivashchenko.

He noted that a decision has yet to be made to approve the use of Sinovac.

“They definitely do not meet the established deadlines. There will be fines that are specified in the contract,” Ivashchenko said.

The contract specifies the obligation of the contractor to deliver the first batch of 700 thousand doses no later than 30 days after the registration of the vaccine in one of the countries indicated on the list. Under the terms of the purchase agreement, Ukraine must transfer and accept the first batch no later than March 7.

In addition, at least three working days before the delivery date, the supplier is obliged to provide the customer with a certificate of product registration in Ukraine. The corresponding registration can be carried out within the framework of a special procedure defined in art. 9-2 ZU “About Medications”.

Remember that Lekhim asks to change the way to determine the effectiveness of the vaccine. According to the contract, an efficiency of at least 70% is required for deliveries. The source of the publication in the Ministry of Health did not rule out that problems may arise with the fulfillment of this criterion.

We recall, at the end of December, the Ukrainian authorities announced that they had signed the first contract for 1.93 million Sinovac vaccines. The amount of the transaction is 964 million UAH.
